IAAPA's annual convention is coming in June!  Start saving your change and let's
make it the biggest gathering of A&A addicts ever!  I plan on getting my revenge
against Rewstr this year....and I'll be taking on all challengers!

                              ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I knew it wouldn't last.  I was in the top 30 with a bullet.....but it suddenly changed
into a boulder!  I only lost those last 8 games to help my election chances... :)

                              ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

gap@ was recently salivating over 4 British transports floating all alone in the
Baltic.  He wrote to his opponent and asked for an update of the Allied navy.  His
opponent had moved an AC and 2 ftrs in on the non-coms......but only on his
board, not in his orders.  gap's failure to take advantage of his opponent's error,
especially since no naval updates were listed, is the example of sportsmanship we
all should follow.   Winning at all costs takes the fun out of the game.

P.S.  He beat me anyway. :)

In case you didn't know it there is a 'decline' option in the reply to challenges
section.  Ignoring people and making them wait weeks for a reply, really makes
you look bad.  Most people don't want to get too many games going at once, so if
you challenge someone, and they don't answer you, you're left hanging without
the ability to play for a while...just because someone didn't take the 45 seconds
or so that takes to decline a challenge.  Karma exists, and the way you treat people,
is how you will be treated.  So improve your own quality of life, by treating others
with more consideration.  It takes a while to work off the bad karma, but if you do
you'll be amazed at the difference.

If Your silence is through no fault of your own than I humbly apologize. Take care
and good luck in your future games.

One of your victims,

DeBruce

Squire Speaketh

Forget that first Tuesday after the first Monday stuff; the only election
that really counts is just around the corner.  Yup, it's almost time for the
IAAPA elections.  This time around, though, something special's in the works.

For the first time in IAAPA history, there is actually a race on for president.
The two competitors, incumbent ToddVomit, and our very own Errant
Knight, have been kind enough to contribute some personal info to "The Squire
Speaketh."  In turn, I'll present it to you, to help you learn more about the
people you're going to be voting for come March 15.

ToddVomit joined the IAAPA, well, a long time ago.  He served as Minister
of War and Vice-president under Vampire999 and ascended to the presidency on
Vampire's retirement.  He personally developed the current ranking system ,
and the Live Game format on AOL was secured under his administration.  He
created the first games database and has been instrumental in the creation of
local chapters and the automated gamestart mechanism.  He plans to expand the
IAAPA and offer membership perks, via the use of a small membership fee, to all
who join.

Errant Knight joined the IAAPA in April of 1997.  He has acted as an adjudicator
for tournament games and created the Map of Commonly Used Abbreviations,
which shows optional abbreviations for territories and sea zones, and has become
the IAAPA standard.  He currently serves as a Senator (Minister of Havoc) and as
a Legislator (CD-ROM promoter).  As CD-ROM promoter he wrote the club rules
for CD-ROM play.  He plans to make government more responsive to the desires
of the membership.

Two competitors, going head to head for the biggest prize in the world.  This is it
folks--the election's just around the corner.  Don't forget to vote, but, if you do
vote, remember, vote wisely and for the candidate you believe best represents
your interests.  Happy election Day!

I was a little put off, perhaps without cause, by certain remarks about IAAPA's
newsletters.  Since there are currently only two newsletters, and one of them is
written by the author of the remarks, I felt insulted by comments promising a
more interesting and slicker newsletter.

I have to agree about the appearance of the Havoc, however, because it is
honestly not very attractive as a regular piece of email.  Unfortunately, as far as
I know, IAAPA's mass mailer only prints in one font and in one size for that font.
Each month I would do my lead-in for the IAAPA Havoc title, and nobody could
see that I had written 'IAAPA Havoc' in extra large type.

This was one of my primary reasons for creating the Knight Site and experimenting
with HTML.....to improve the look of my Havocs.  I'm still experimenting with the
fonts and colors and backgrounds, etc.,  trying to make a really cool e-zine.

This is my 13th edition of Havoc, and I've had a lot of fun putting it together....
each and every issue.  I try to print everything that you guys submit, tho every
once in awhile something falls thru the cracks.  I also try to add a little humor to
it, just because it's my nature.  In all that time I've only received one complaint,
and that was because I printed a story which stereotyped Russians.

If you have any suggestions for improving Havoc I would love to hear from you.
If you'd like to write an editorial, please do so!  It makes it so much easier to put
the Havoc together when I get contributions from someone besides the Squire,
who works very hard every month poring through the old logs for material.

In order to improve the look of Havoc, I've decided to eliminate the non-HTML
version.  I hope you like this new format, but if not, don't give up yet.  As I browse
through my HTML for Dummies each day, IAAPA Havoc can only get better and
better. :)

Knight Mail

I just sent this letter out and then thought maybe you could put in a few
lines someday about this problem. I can tell you by personal experience this
is not an isolated experience.

I also want to thank you for Havoc, you have a genuine sense of humor and
must put in a lot of hours just so a few of us can get some guffaws.

EK ~ See the two editorials above. :)

Hello Brave Knight,

I'm still around, just haven't been playing any online A&A for a while.  But
I've been lurking and keeping up with all the latest in the club.  The web
site keeps getting better and better and the Havoc rules as always.  EK for
pres?  Great idea!

I just got challenged by my old partner Sob-hoa, so it looks like I'm active
again as well.  Thanks for the mention in the Havoc.  Yes, I still do the
M&Ps.   They are pretty slow but we are going to Germany for three short tours
later in the year and another possible tour in Japan.  We play both of those
countries a lot (I should be a great Axis player).  If I make it to Vegas I will let
you know.

                                                     Plucken

EK ~ Great to hear from you again!  I certainly hope you will drop me a line
when you play the desert again.  I want backstage passes so I can get
a close up view as you're plucken those 4 fat strings. :)

Deep down in the bowels of the Castle a faint noise is heard ~ a kind of
scratching ...a low moaning that could only be associated with some kind of
suffering animal that even irritates the nerves of the rats and the other
vermin  occupying the lower levels of Castle Shannon.

Upstairs where the Knight and his Squire hold court, it sounds like  a grand
celebration is going on .  Even deep in the dungeon the sound of the
champagne corks a popping could be heard.  I will be King yells the Knight
after his second bottle. The Squire looking a little perplexed agrees what a
wonderful King his boss would make.

The scratching just keeps on getting louder until it starts to disrupt the
wonderful happenings upstairs.  Someone notices that the scratching is really
a tapping of some kind of code.  The Castle Wizard is called to see what can
be done.  He bends down and puts his ear to the wall and after a while rights
himself.  "Amazing!"  he says out loud to all who can hear him, "Just amazing!"

Well since Havoc might go out of business.  I do wish every one the best in
their quest for public office.  I can only say that the answer will be in the next
published Havoc.  I also say to all gamers that if you care don't let the Knight
get away so easily, flood his gates with mail and make him stay.  At least let
him know that a job well done is appreciated.

                                                   Sohoa

EK ~ Thanks once again, Sohoa, and nicely written.  However, for those who
enjoy Havoc, it won't do you any good to vote against me....and those who hate
Havoc, it won't do you any good to vote FOR me....because regardless of what
happens in the election on March 15th ~ Errant Knight will still be writing next
month's Havoc.  And the next one.  And the one after that....I promise!

Recon Squad

IAAPA Havoc has a severe shortage of intelligence and desperately needs
reconnaissance volunteers.  Please include your IAAPA alias with all
contributions.  Space limitations (and reader's attention spans) hinder
the chances of extremely long submissions being printed.  Less is more!
All intelligence reports should be forwarded to the S-3 Officer at:
