Greetings, fellow warriors. With the new year we also have lots of changes. First, as reported in the last club rankings, LORD PEZ has stepped down from the Vice President's slot in order to devote all of his attention to the club rankings and the Minister of Precedence position. Todd Vomit has been selected to replace LORD PEZ as Vice President. Replacing Todd Vomit as Minister of War will be DesrtFox69, who is currently the club's Minister of Archives. Also, Hocygoaly has resigned as our Chancellor of the Assembly. This opening will be filled in the upcoming elections. That's not all folks, with DesrtFox's promotion we have eliminated his old slot of Minister of Archives and we have also added two new positions to the club's House of Commons in time for this month's elections, Chancellor of the Members and Knight Errant. Chancellor of the Members will function as a kind of an ombudsman and will be responsible for handling all member concerns and will also be the person to contact for creating new folders in the messaging area on AOL. Knight Errant will be responsible for research, promotion and production of a secondary, less official or statistically oriented newsletter and for the construction and maintenance of the A&A Hall of Fame. The government now breaks down as follows: CLUB PRESIDENT: Vampire999@aol.com CLUB VICE-PRESIDENT: Todd Vomit@aol.com HOUSE OF LORDS Minister of War: DesrtFox69@aol.com Minister of AOL Recruiting: PapaSmrf30@aol.com Minister of Internet Recruiting: Alflex13@aol.com Minister of Precedence: LORD PEZ@aol.com Minister of Engineering: SailorGary@aol.com Minister of the Internet: micwil@sk.sympatico.ca HOUSE OF COMMONS Chancellor of Law: JohnPin569 Chancellor of the Members: OPEN Chancellor of Belligerents: Jonhog@aol.com Chancellor of Tourneys: Noble Knt@aol.com Chancellor of the Assembly: OPEN Knight Errant: OPEN Which brings me to the club elections which will kick off later this week. Up for election will be the 6 positions in the Club's House of Commons. This is your chance to get involved in the club government. The election timetable will be: This Wed (Jan. 7th) formal election notice will be sent out officially kicking off the elections. From then until Jan. 15th will be the period for people to get their names in as candidates. Names will be submitted to Todd Vomit@aol.com and myself (Vampire999@aol.com). On Jan. 16th the official ballot will be sent out with speeches from candidates. No candidate should mass email the club. Voting period will last from then until Jan 20th. Winners announced as soon as all votes are counted. Also, depending on the interest level there may be live debates in either the Wargamers HQ or the new chat room on the club web page. Now let's hear from some of the other members of your government. First up is Todd Vomit, your new Vice President who will let you know about many of the projects the government is currently working on and the scoop on the club message boards on AOL. An update of projects on the Vice Presidents Desk: 1.GMless Play. That's right, you've been asking about it, and it's almost ready! just a little tweeking and playtesting left before it's release. Definately will be available next month. 2.Leagues. We're going to be forming leagues for regularly held Live Gaming. So get together your favorite gamers and try to build the best Live Gaming Team. I'm going to coordinate the first season. Look for more info in the next week or so about joining and the schedules and stuff. Use the message Boards to give me your suggested time and days( two days a week ) to hold the matches. 3.The new look of our message Boards. As many of you already know, AOL, without any warning dramatically changed every messageboard in their system. The new look admittedly isn't very good, and some features we all enjoyed are gone forever. We have no control over this, and have been fighting them for months over it. However, we did secure a method of once again deleting and creating topics. Some negatives: you can no longer create your own topics ( but you can suggest a topic and we'll try and get it created ), this requires us asking the OGF Staff to do this for us, so let's not abuse it, and try to keep requests to a minimum. We did create several broad topics, so hopefully you can discuss most everything there already. The Positives: We will be creating the gamefolders automatically for you as space opens up in the folders. You should see this occurring shortly after gamestarts are announced, beginning very soon. Please take the time to read the boards, as there are some lively discussions going on in there on a good variety of subjects. This area can be a great place to hash out any weird tactics, or discuss some intriguing situations that come up in your games. Double Clicking on a topic will list all the unread posts for that topic. 4.The webpage now sports a live chatroom. Unfortunately we don't have a working dice roller installed yet to allow for live gaming, but we are working on it. Hopefully our internetter members can enjoy live gaming with the AOL members on day soon. Please stop by in the new A&AChatroom on the webpage and look up some of the members. 5.A&ALibrary. Many times I get requests for information that can be downloaded from our Library. Nearly everything is uploaded into the Library and Website. GM Handbooks, Rules Books, McDMap, Odds Calculator, Rankings, even PKZIP is in there. Check it out for things you need. 6.Rules summary booklet. I'm just finishing up a quick rules booklet that quickly explains the game, and the club. While it is not intended to replace the MB 2nd Edition rules and the Club Rules, it does give people new to A&A and this club a handy reference to read over, when deciding if they like A&A and the Club. While you probably could play using the McDMap and the rules booklet, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you buy the game and learn the complete rules. That's about it ToddVomit Next up is JohnPin569, Chancellor of Law: From the Law Office... Greeting Fellow Warriors, All has been quiet over the Holiday's. I hope you and yours had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Michael (micwil@sk.sympatico.ca) has been hard at work on a graphic that depicts and hopefully clarifies that pesky issue of "What touches what" on the Southeast Pacific side of the gameboard. I'll let him fill you all in on the details. Now, on to the updates. HANDBOOK UPDATES Updates to the Handbook will be distributed in the monthly issue of the Bunker. Only the affected parts will be sent to you so they will be apparent and easy to read. At all times, a complete copy of the current rules will be available on the web site. UPDATE #1 ERROR CORRECTIONS GM ERRORS If the error involves a BB support shot, it will be handled as follows: 1.If too many bb shots were fired, then the entire battle is to be re- rolled. 2.If too few were fired then roll for the missing shots and: 1.if there were no additional hits scored, then the battle will stand as originally rolled. 2.if there were additional hit/s scored, then remove the additional casualties, adjust the counts, and then the battle will be re-rolled starting with Rnd 2 as stated above. That's all for now. Take care. John Lastly, we hear from micwil@sk.sympatico.ca, the club's Minister of the Internet. January's Java Journal OK, in case you haven't noticed, the web site has undergone yet another upgrade. The new features include: 1.Cool statistics for the site --- if anyone finds this useful/cool/neat/worthwhile, I can get statistics like that for every page in the web site. If no one cares, then I will just leave it on the main page for general tracking purposes. 2.A chat room which will be used for strategy discussions, town forums, meetings, and more. In general, it will serve the same role as the WarGamers HQ, although for now there is no built-in dice roller so that any attempt at live games in the chat room will either require a series of messages sent to a seperate dice server (www.ironygames.com) or a live GM. 3.A guestbook which for now is just for comments on the website, but which could be used as a newsgroup to post messages and replies on topics, if the Internet portion of the club is interested. 4.A What's New section on the first page so that people will know about recent changes and improvements to the website. I will make sure all information about the election is up on the website as soon as it becomes avaliable. Hope you all had a great holiday season and I join the rest of the club government in wishing you all the best in the New Year, Michael Craggs micwil@sk.sympatico.ca Minister of the Internet That concludes this month's bunker. If you want something included in the Bunker, send it to me at Vampire999@aol.com. I can't guarantee I will include it, but I will do my best. Thanks, Vampire999 Axis & Allies Club President
