In game 7341, a small band of loyal Russian forces defend Moscow,

I see you are pondering what to do after that abominable mess in

There is a saying here in Sweden: Unlucky in games = lucky in love.

Game 6503, DWJD vs. Strafer
As 6503 continues, will the loss of the RAF be more damaging to the
allies,
or, will the loss of the 4/5 ger arm in karelia at this stage of
the game be
more costly to the axis? Time will tell I'm sure. Stay tuned dear
readers!

Hey.....you! Yeah, YOU,
the one with the blank stare. Have you made your reservations for
IAAPA's
4th Annual Convention yet?
Well you better get up off the sofa and hop to it because time is
running out! This year's
convention is going to be the biggest yet and will feature extra competition
as members of both AAMC and
Spring 1942 have been invited to join us for some great face to face
gaming. In addition to
the traditional convention tournament there will be a heavy bomber load
of
action and activities.
We'll be separating the Men from the High Cmmdrs on the MGM's "Sky
Screamer" and the Stratosphere's
"Big Shot". Don't miss out on all the fun....check out the IAAPA
convention page, or for more

"This is a real air raid; this is no sheet!" (Edited)
This was the urgent message relayed to the sailors aboard the USS
Oklahoma on December 7th, 1941. The man
responsible for this important public announcement was Captain
Herbert F. Rommel (USN, Ret.), known to the
members of IAAPA as HerbertFox.
Herb is probably the only member who actually participated in the very
real
events which we simulate in every game.
Now, how did a guy named Rommel ever end up on one of those floating tin cans in the first place...?
The Knight's oldest foe and nemesis recently awoke and found himself
in the 21st Century. He immediately went out
and purchased a computer and the CD-ROM version of A&A and then
signed up with the IAAPA forces. Watch for YAHTZEE
at the convention and as a future member of IAAPA's Top 30.
Of course, with his keyboard speed it may be the next
century or so before he makes it thru his rookie game.....No matter
what, don't EVER try to IM him! ;)
For those members who remember the old AOL Club bulletin boards,
I once posted a story about a f2f game I played with
YAHTZEE. His Axis forces were in dire straits, so the Japanese
rolled for tech and got heavy bombers. The Emperor ordered
massive air strikes on the Russian capital, but the squadron of
5 heavy bombers never made it past Moscow's highly trained AA
crews. I remember yelling "Yahtzee!"....definitely the
highlight of my A&A career... I guess HE never forgot it either.
:)
The Knight's heart was racing recently after reading two notes from Rewstr.
IAAPA's leading General notified me that his reservations for the
convention in June have been confirmed. I broke out in a cold
sweat, but then remembered an earlier message that I'd received.
It seems that the Rewster got knocked out of the Spring 1942
sponsored Winter Open tourney, and only managed to finish in 2nd
Place... Hope springs eternal in Castle Shannon!
(Congrats, Randy! :)

a way to ease that frustration OR eliminate it. Use the

Knight Muse
There's been quite a bit of activity going on behind the scenes in
preparation for this year's convention. After it was announced
that I'd be the host this year I received several messages which
suggested holding a joint convention with AAMC. I thought that
would be a cool idea, except for the fact it is IAAPA's convention
and most of the folks attending would expect to have their games
rated by IAAPA. I thought about it awhile and then thought
I'd figured out a solution, and checked with the club officers on
their opinions about inviting members of AAMC and Spring 1942 to
attend. The response was unanimously in favor of inviting ANY
player who wanted to join in the live A&A gaming.
After posting invitations on both the Spring and AAMC boards, things
became a little complicated. The problem was in determining
a method for each club to sanction the games for use in their record
books. Since there are a few rules which AAMC and IAAPA have
each interpreted in a different manner, AAMC wasn't overly eager
to sanction games using IAAPA rules, and IAAPA certainly didn't
want to host a convention and use AAMC rules.
BlackWatch and I went into discussions with the AAMC JCS and eventually
hit upon a compromise. BW immediately drafted a
motion for IAAPA's legislature and it gained unanimous support from
the legislators. Then, before the voting had been completed,
ToddVomit announced his support of the motion. The same response
has been seen in all the messages from AAMC and CptRick has also endorsed
the measure.
The actual compromise is a very small issue, but the willingness
of the members and leaders of both clubs to take this step has
opened the door to a much greater partnership between the clubs.
My sincere thanks to all those involved in crafting, selling, and approving the rules issue compromise.

Found in a recent message from High Cmmdr:
And though I'm honored that AxisSpec is so impressed with my rolls
I
want to state for the record that I can only roll like that against
him, it
is his curse in life to go 1-12 against me so far ;)
EK ~ It will soon be 1-13, I'm sure....and
then I quit. Give up. Capitulate. Arghhh!!!
Run away! Run away!
Hi guys!! Great job you're doing!! Thanks for producing 'Havoc',
I bust a gut reading
it every month!!
~ Phil (Herr_Schmidt)
EK ~ You're obviously more easily amused than
defeated. :)
Sohoa is now accepting all challenges from the new recruits in the
mentor program
(good idea). So if you are new to the A&A game and do not know
how to play- please
challenge me to a game. Thanks
~ Sohoa
EK ~ Excellent idea! Would one of you
guys PLEASE challenge him? Maybe I can
then pawn him off on some other Mentor. You'd think that after all
these games
he'd be ready to test his wings....but, noooooo....
When I sent out a convention update which announced
that members of Spring 1942 and AAMC
had been invited, I stated that there would
be a weapons checkpoint at the door, and advised
everyone to leave their bats and tire irons
at home.
Yes, but will they be checking for weighted dice?
~ Tel Intel
EK ~ Of course! Haven't you ever seen
any movies about Las Vegas? The Boardwalk casino
will provide this big gorilla-looking guy in a suit who will be spinning
each die between
his fingers. Suspicious dice, and their owners, will be provided
free escort and transportation
to the desert.
