AA Gun / Rockets Information

The Essentials of AA Guns

AA Guns provide an essential defence for territories from attacking aircraft. For every aircraft that flies over the territory (in combat movement), a single die is rolled an on a '1', that aircraft is shot down by the AA Gun.

Frequently Asked Questions about AA Guns

  1. Q: Can I move an AA Gun in my non-combat movement into a territory that I captured during the combat portion of my turn?
    A: Yes.

  2. Q: Can I move an AA Gun in my non-combat movement from a territory that I captured during the combat portion of my turn?
    A: No.

  3. Q: Can I have more than 1 AA Gun in any given territory?
A: No, any given territory may only have 1 AA Gun in it.

  4. Q: Can my AA Gun fire at all enemy air units when they fly over my territory?
A: No, only at enemy air units which are flying in combat movement over your territory. For example, a classic German strategy is to base their bomber(s) in S. Eur and SBR Russia, landing in E. Eur. Flight path S. Eur - C. Med SZ (1) - Black Sea SZ (2) - Caucasus (3) - Russia (4) - Karelia (5) - E. Eur (6). Movement steps 1 through 4 are combat movement and subject to AA Gun fire. However, once the target of the combat has been reached, any remaining movement is non-combat and as such no AA Guns may fire (in this case, the AA Guns in Russia and/or Caucasus would get a shot at the Bomber but an AA Gun in Karelia would not.

  5. Q: Can I move my rocket during combat and still fire it?
A: You may move your rocket during combat if said movement will position it within 3 or less spaces of any enemy IC.

  6. Q: Can my Rocket fire from aboard a transport?
A: No. Any and all units that are physically located on a transport are considered to be cargo only.

  7. Q: Can my Rocket ever enter a hostile territory if I decide to move it during Combat?
A: No. During Combat a Rocket may only move to a territory that was friendly at the start of the turn.

  8. Q: Can I fire my rocket in combat and then move it during non-comnbat?
    A: No.

  9. Q: During Combat can I load my rocket onto a transport and then unload it to a space within 3 of the IC?
    A: Yes.

  10. Q: Once I designate an AA as a rocket, does this AA have to remain the rocket for the rest of the game?
A: No. At the start of any turn you may designate any AA that you have as the rocket for that turn.

  11. Q: Can a Rocket accompany other attacking units in a battle?
A: No. The territory the rocket moves into during combat must have been under your control at the start of the turn.
