IAAPA Tournament Information
Here

In addition to regular Association sanctionned games, the IAAPA runs
several tournaments during the year. Below is the complete list
of our completed and current tournaments.

Games that are not completed within the time alotted for the round in
question will be handled by the IAAPA's
Guidelines for Adjudication.
Here are the 3 general types of tournaments that our Association sanctions.
GUIDELINES:
1) FALL CLASSIC and SPRING CLASSIC
REQUIREMENTS
- First 64 players to sign-up; all others on alternate list
- Must have completed 2 full IAAPA sanctionned games
- Must be committed to fast-paced games
FORMAT
- Six (6) Single Elimination ROUNDS
- Standard Association Rules
- First three rounds, Quarterfinals (QF) & Semifinals (SF) rounds
will run 60 days each.
- Championship Round (CH) has NO time limit
- Default method of play is GMless
- All byes will be assigned randomly in the first round
2) THE MASTERS INVITATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS
- Top 16 players in the previous 12 months receive an invitation
- Rank determined 2 weeks prior to the Invitational
- When/If a top-ranked player declines, the #17 ranked player (and down
the list) is invited until the tourney fills.
FORMAT
- Four (4) Single Eliminations (called Eliminations 1,2, & 3)
- Standard Association Rules
- Each Elimination is 2 months
- Champion Round has NO time limit
- Default method of play is GMless
3) THE OPEN
REQUIREMENTS
- Any active IAAPA Association Member
- Must sign-up within a strict deadline
FORMAT
- The top 32 ranking players will be 'seeded'
- Seeded players may get a bye
- All others will be matched randomly
- Standard Association Rules
- Each Round has a 2 month time limit
- Champion Round has NO time limit
- Default method of play is GMless
- All
byes will be assigned randomly in the first round
