IAAPA Activity
How active is IAAPA? Is our activity going up or down compared to the past? Some folks have tried to answer these questions by looking at activity on the IAAPA bulletin board, but I decided to take a look at how many games we play.

Here is a plot of number of games started each month for about the last two years.

As you can see, the club has a healthy level of activity. The level is steady and has even increased a bit compared to two years ago.

Bids and Wins over Time
Folks have observed that the average bid has been steadily creeping up over the years. I plotted the average bid in each month over time and, sure enough, the average bid is going up. I overlaid the graph with a plot of percent of Axis wins over time. Yep, Axis wins are going up too.

The red line is the average bid in a given month. Two years ago bids came in at 18 or 19, now bids come in at 20 or 21. The data was "filtered" a bit - I threw out bids which were less than 10: these games seemed to involve RR or some other gentleman's agreement. I also threw out one game with a bid of 1000.
The blue line shows how often the Axis won. The line bounces around a lot but is generally going up. I used a dotted line for the last few month because several of those games are not yet finished.

Fortunately the IAAPA Herald is back form an extended unpaid sabbatical. In his absence I grabbed data for the "Snapshots" in Time" feature. They are posted below.
