THE HAVOC CRIER

IAAPA HAVOC Headlines !!!

"CRY HAVOC"

The dictionary definition of Havoc is: Disorder or destruction, you can say something plays or wreaks havoc with someone else!

So in following the definition of Havoc we would like to play Havoc with all of you club members out there…

We have initiated a couple of self-driven player participation pages you may find funny and informative, this is your editorial, so stand up and cry havoc. New additions range from WWII articles under our all-new Guest writers page. The squires Survey page, coming soon to a theatre, on the front lines near you. Letters to the team Section, where all letters will be posted. I hope you will all find the time and opportunity to get your two cents in.

"From the Squire's Dungeon"

This is to all of you wonderful game players out there in the Kingdom. I know that we all have had that game of all games. The other player or the dice or that new move pulled on you, something that you wanted to tell the whole world about.
Well!! Now you can do just that. We at "Havoc" will be picking out the most memorable story about another player or that special game. So send it in to us and if we pick your story, we will print it so that all of the members can share your experience.

"SQUIRE"

"THE SQUIRE" Speaks

I wanted to thanks those kind folks that took a moment out of their busy schedule to send us a note on the January issue of "Havoc". To those of you that could not find the time or did not really care for the issue "boo" to you. I guess I was wrong when I thought that we could get more than ten people to participate in something that would benefit us all.
We at " Havoc" spent a lot of time to putting together the issue and we want to thank those ten from the bottom of our hearts.

"THE SQUIRE'S " SURVEY:

To all club members
We at your "HAVOC" are trying to make this paper your paper.
So we will continue to think up items that would cause you to participate.

We ask that you send us your Pet Peeves about the game and the dice. Please keep them short. We will then take several of the most common complaints and print them to be voted on. The winner will be posted as the greatest Pet peeve in A&A history and maybe even get and star of some kind. I list some Ex: for you to follow

Lab sz- ftr Vs trn--roll dice -----results ftr -6, trn 1

sbr attacks---roll dice bomber explodes --AA sights true

SFE-- 2inf, BB Vs inf---roll dice inf stands on shore laughing at feeble Japanese attempt.

Sub--Vs any ship -- roll dice --2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2

Just a few samples, send them in to us at squire@axisandallies.net

Letters to the Team @ HAVOC

As a relatively new member who is not proficient on my computer a Curse of my generation] I am looking for ways to serve the club that are within my limited capabilities. If the need is their and you want an occasional WWII essay I would be happy to contribute. Just let me know what topic as well as approximate length and where to send it. I enjoyed the current issue of HAVOC; please pass on my compliments to all that contributed.

Sincerely yours

Strategic Spock

Excellent issue! Don't let it be the last!
I'll try to write something for the next issue. What are acceptable themes? I was thinking of an assessment of the KJF strategy that Einstein is currently applying to my hapless Axis.

Happy 2002!
Nemo

I've just seen a sneak preview of the Havoc, courtesy of Mike, and I believe I know the answer to Solar's stumper.... was it the HMS Sydney that was sunk in 1941 by the german raider? I know it was an Aussie ship right?

Ps - the new Havoc format looks really cool!

Hello Havoc Team!

I would like to congrat you to this issue of the Havoc. It's a great job you've done and this is a whole new chapter in the history of the Havoc. The design is marvelous and the content is great as ever. Keep on producing Havocs like this; it is a great advertisement for the quality of IAAPA. In my time as Commander of History over at AAMC I planned to publish short articles about operations and their codenames in WW II. With three operations I am finished, but then I quit my DC job there (due to the lack of interest from the AAMC) and those articles never got published. If you like I will send them to you and you could include them in your issues. What you need to do is correct my language. Being a german my English is not so good, and I am sure it sounds strange in the ears of a natural speaker.

Just tell if you're interested.

Cheers!
Jochen a.k.a. GroeFaZ

Wow, guys. That thing is great. Love the spreadsheets and the information they provide, especially the relationship between rank and games won. History section was a great deal of fun to read, and I've always loved the little bits of humor from games in progress, Great idea to interview Randy.

Squire's comments, in the tradition of EK, are great, but please find a color scheme besides red on gray next time, Hard on the eyes.

Thanks for all the hard work! Perhaps in future editions you can invite members of government or high-ranking folks to write full-blown articles about government workings or strategy.

Just read 'The Havoc', I'm a new member so it is the first issue I have seen. I really enjoyed the bids discussion and analysis. I also like how you posted all of the bad rolls. I played a face-to-face game against my friend (IAAPA name wlc) and I lost my whole German navy, air force (only two Ger ftrs saved) and got blown away in the AES ground war (even with an extra Ger inf bid in Lib) all in the G1 turn. :( I was depressed for three days after that tough loss. It was refreshing to see that I wasn't the only one who has suffered from absolutely horrible rolls. Keep up the analysis section (bids, strategies, statistics, etc.) As a beginning player I find those sections very interesting and useful. :)

Take care
Eric Lind (Elind)

Absolutely excellent! I think that the bid analysis info is outstanding! You guys did a tremendous job.

Thanks for your work!

Fantastic Havoc. I always enjoy the reading. Makes me laugh most of the time. Keep the crude jokes to the imagination and all will be well with me.

Outstanding job, and very nice layout!

Hi Phil! Great Job on the new Havoc!

I really enjoyed the stats looking for the 'perfect bid’. I think you need to run the bid effectiveness charts again showing win% for bid values from games played by ranks of Col and above. This would factor in the 'rank' which you showed was just as important as the bid...

Keep up the good work!!
